Jaden Smith Opens Restaurant That Allows Homeless People To Eat For Free

As the son of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, Jaden Smith is truly a child of the greater Los Angeles area. Growing up in the City of Angels, he has always used his resources to give back to those he shares the city with. Not long ago, he stepped his philanthropic efforts up a notch when he launched the I Love You food truck to distribute meals to those on Skid Row. Just a few years late, he is transforming his food truck into a restaurant where unhoused residents don't have to pay.

“It’s for homeless people to get free food,” Smith told Variety.

“But if you’re not homeless, not only do you have to pay, but you have to pay for more than the food’s worth so that you can pay for the person behind you.”

Smith is not stopping his philanthropic efforts there. He recently joined New Balance's "We Got Now" campaign alongside Kawhi Leonard, Sydney McLaughlin and Coco Gauff.

As part of the campaign, the California native stars in a 30-second ad where he is seen wearing New Balance gear as he carries boxes of water toward a truck. Smith is seen carrying water as a way to promote his Just Water nonprofit organization. Former in 2012 alongside Drew Fitzgerald, the organization works to provide water to underserved communities.

"The organization is all about giving back to the community and specifically serving the black and brown communities that are disproportionally affected by these issues," Smith told Billboard.

"The reason I wanted to do it is that I feel like it has a bigger message of We Got Now, like, the culture has now, the youth has now. The youth is going to take over and really change and bring something different for the future of the world."
